Child Growth and Development  

This course includes the major concepts, principles, theories, and research related to development of children, birth through age twelve that enablechildcare professionals to construct learning opportunities that support individual students’ development, acquisition of knowledge, and motivation.

Preschool Methods and Materials

This course introduces the basic concepts of curriculum planning and implementation for children ages three to five-years old. Students will apply their knowledge of child growth and development to enhance teaching strategies, environment design, and implementation of best practices in early childhood education.

9 Clock Hour Communication Course

This course is designed for childcare professionals as an introduction to the basic concepts of developing strong communication skills when working in the early care and education field. Topics include: verbal, non-verbal, and written communication, reading strategies, interpersonal communication strategies, and objective listening skills, with a focus on communicating with parents, co-workers, and the community and communication issues within a typical childcare day.

Course Title: DirectorAdministration  

This course is designed for childcare professionals currently in or seeking leadership positions.  The major concepts of child care administration and management to support effective licensed center based or family childcare programs will be covered.  Topics include: administration, program planning, staff supervision and evaluation, policy and procedure development and implementation, fiscal management, maintenance of State regulations, effective customer services, and parent and community involvement.
